Urgent Care Has Your Back This Spring Break

People across the northeast are itching for a little fun in the sun. Cue spring break! Over the next few weeks, social media feeds will brim over with pictures of sandy shores, road trips, and house parties.

And hey, we know that what happens at spring break stays at spring break. Just remember that we have your back! From COVID testing to safety tips, read on to see how we can help you prepare for your trip. We’ll also be here to welcome you back with discreet, comfortable care when you get home.

Getting Ready for Spring Break

vybe is here to help with some important reminders and timely services. Consider these four important tips before heading out on your adventure.

1. Wallet? Keys? COVID test?

Before stepping out your door, remember that if you’re feeling sick, rest is best. Don’t risk getting sicker or exposing others to your illness if you have symptoms. If you feel OK but believe you could have COVID, get tested to know for sure.

That being said, it’s also important to check your travel itinerary for any required COVID testing. Things to consider include:

  • How you’re getting there – destinations and airlines
  • What you’re doing when you’re there – restaurants, hotels or rental homes, any other venues you plan on entering

It’s important to check frequently as requirements are subject to change. Also keep in mind that while many people now have access to at-home COVID testing, most places will require official documentation of results.

Some venues may require proof of COVID vaccination. If you’re not yet fully vaccinated, make an appointment as soon as possible. Remember that you’re not considered “fully vaccinated” until 2 weeks after your final dose. Keep your vaccination card in a safe place and take a photo with your phone, just in case. Remember, even if you don’t require proof of vaccination, COVID vaccines and boosters can help you to stay safe and healthy on your trip!

2. The Rubber Meets the Road

The excitement of the open road can be distracting, so before turning the ignition, remember:

  • Don’t drive if you’ve been drinking. If you plan on drinking, pre-game with a plan for getting back to your home base. This may be a designated driver or downloading an official ride-share app, like Uber or Lyft.
  • Arrive at your destination before dark whenever possible. This can impact visibility, and potentially help avoid drunk drivers.
  • Tell someone else your travel itinerary so that someone can take action if you’re unaccounted for.

3. Soak Up the Sun

For many, spring break is the first exposure to sunshine in months. People can’t wait to kick off their Sunday shoes and soak in some rays. We’re not here to stop you, but here are some reminders for sunburn protection:

  • Pack your sunscreen and reapply frequently to avoid sunburn or sun poisoning. Make sure your SPF is at least 30 and reapply after swimming or excessive sweating.
  • Use aloe to help soothe skin after sun exposure.
  • Refill your water bottle and drink up! Staying hydrated is crucial when spending time in the sun, especially if you’re also drinking alcohol.

4. Keep Happy Hour Happy

When it’s time to unwind, these tips can help you to stay safe while knocking back a few drinks with your friends:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking water
  • Pace yourself and keep track of how many drinks you’ve had
  • Always have a buddy – keep track of one another
  • Don’t leave your drink unattended

Make sure you and your friends are familiar with the signs of alcohol poisoning, like dulled responses, mental confusion, vomiting, or trouble breathing. If you believe someone could be experiencing alcohol poisoning, seek medical assistance immediately by calling 911.

How Can vybe Help After Spring Break?

While shot glasses and postcards are suitable mementos, there are some unwelcome souvenirs you may find yourself bringing home with you. We’re not here to judge, but we are here to help. vybe urgent care makes a great choice for testing and treatment.

  • COVID-19 testing. Just like before you hit the trails, getting tested after your trip can help you to know if you became infected along the way.
  • STI testing. If you participated in sexual activity during your trip and are unsure of the STI status, the only way to know for sure is to get tested. If you’re positive, you can start treatment sooner rather than later.
  • Drug testing. If you want to know your current status (for any reason),  opt for an elective drug test.
  • Treatment for illness and injury. If you come back with an acute illness, injury, or infection, urgent care can provide treatment to help you feel better.

When it comes to spring break, vybe has your back with COVID-19 testing, vaccines, drug testing, and STI testing, not to mention quality treatment from our caring team.  We’ll help to send you on your way, and will be waiting to welcome you home. Bon, voyage!
